Meet Rhona -
Designer, Woodworker, Mom,
Self-Proclaimed Wood Nerd.
My story
I began my journey with ReClaimed Designs by accident: after a wildfire destroyed our property in 2017, I began the process of rebuilding and needed to create a garden gate that was highly visible. I used the only materials I had on hand: a few redwood boards and a wine barrel hoop. This lead me to create my first piece.
Since then, I have apprenticed with an 87-year-old woodworker - a master of his craft - who has shared with me his wealth of knowledge and fueled my love of wood and woodworking.
In my work, I appreciate, seek out, and highlight the inherent beauty and texture of aged wood that has been subjected to the elements.

If Boards Could Talk
Each piece of wood has a story. You can learn quite a bit from looking at the end grain of each piece: how old each each piece is, what type of climate it grew in, and even how heavy the rainfall was each season it lived through.
I love thinking about the journey each piece has taken to eventually end up in my hands. From a forest somewhere, to someone’s barn or fence, each has endured years and years of sun and rain both dead and alive. Instead of ending up in a landfill, I love that I can extend the journey of these boards and give them new life in a new form and in a new home.
Custom Pieces
I am constantly creating new pieces - and I love custom projects.
Experimenting with new colors and designs allows me to practice and further my craft. I am always open to and happy to work on custom projects!
